An independent life seems like an inconceivable idea when we have a physical or intellectual disability or when we reach our golden years. Concerns about our health and conditions that need monitoring can hinder us from exploring avenues that allow for an independent life. We may also think that such a life isn’t just for us, at least not anymore.
